"Once abolish the God and the Government becomes the God." -- G.K. Chesterton

In honor of our Confirmation candidates, the following is part of a meditation I wrote for a Confirmation Class several years ago.

"Who Is the Holy Spirit?" ---the love of God, so wide and so deep it reaches out to the whole world, ---the breath of life, present at creation and still creating and recreating life---God who spoke through the Prophets in the Hebrew Scriptures---God who gives us wisdom to discern our choices and the courage to act on them---a friend who is always there to listen, console, encourage, and support us---the "somethin" in "Somethin" tells me I should call Aunt Ceil---the one who nudges us to grow more and more into the image of God we were created to be---the fire that God puts in our hearts, to get to know God---the wind that blows where it will to continually renew us and the Church---God who enlightens our minds to see the world as God sees it---God who gave the Apostles courage to proclaim their faith in Jesus---one who opens our eyes and ears to help us see God in each other---our consolation when life is hard---the joy we feel when we have had an experience of God---the love between the Father and Jesus, big enough to include everyone---GOD.
